Literature Text

As a werewolf clan, Alison was pretty proud of her group, pride, clan, den, whatever you would call a group of werewolves. The only exception she could possibly make was the relationship between Xcaliber and Opal. Yes, it was embarrassing for almost everyone involved, a thirty-three year old and an eighteen year old being involved wasn't the proudest moment anyone was having. Especially since they had met three years previously but had kept their relationship on simmer for the time.

In any event, their relationship bred problems, whether it was pop culture references flying over one another's heads, or the occasional (read: almost constant ) immaturity of Opal attempting to fit in with people outside of her generation. This time, the werewolves were attempting a clan-bonding and camping out during a new moon so as to avoid instinctual problems. Meanwhile Opal was whining about something while an exasperated Xcaliber glowered at her.

"Didn't you pack the flint? The razers? The tent? The food?" Xcaliber asked, his patience waning quickly.

"No, no, no, and no. Alison was supposed to bring the food, you were supposed to have the tent in your jeep, and I didn't know we needed the other things!" Opal replied with exaggerated mannerisms. While they argued, Alison sat by the fire shaking her head and starting the fire with sticks. She had already sent out Raphael to get food and to go back the half hour to the house to pick up the tent while everyone else set up the fire and area.

"Cal. Opal, stop fighting. Help everyone get the other things together and work on another fire." Alison said as she kept up the friction between the sticks, sparks setting the brush she had as kindling to flame, "Next time we'll make a list to help Opal remember to be prepared."

"Prepared isn't even in my vocabulary." Opal tossed into the air in annoyance, sounding exasperated with herself.

"Clearly." Xcaliber agreed in annoyance. Alison sighed as the couple started arguing again. So much for bonding with the clan, the other werewolves were either "looking for kindling" (I.E. getting as far away from the yelling as possible) or helping Raph with the same general idea in mind. She watched while Opal stomped her foot and walked off to get stones for a new fire pit and Xcaliber set to pulling logs over for seating.

"Well that's just grand." Alison muttered sarcastically to herself.
Opal, Xcaliber, Alison, and Raphael are from my story "Surreal".
