Literature Text

It's not every day that a girl from the slums can say that they are the world's hero. And it's not every day that the person that saved the world receives recognition, or even thanks for their deed.

What's most unlikely; is a girl from the slums finding a RavePort3000 and conceivably using the data within to ruin the plot of a high-end Druglord, in effect ruining their plans to rule the world.

But that isn't what happened to me.

I found a Rav-Port2500.

Rav-Ports are the generic off models of RavePorts.

RavePorts are small robots that can fit into your pocket. They can interact like a miniature human and link into the RavePort systems, like wifi but brand specific. The Rav-Ports can only link in to the generic versions, they have limited accessibility to news, feeds, and to specific websites.

My Rav-Port2500 seemed to have malfunctioned. He was missing a foot and one eye, but he was also able to connect to all systems at one point in time.

I may be from the slums, but I really like to fiddle around with technology, and I've made myself pretty handy over the years. The Rav-Port model of mecha robots are capable of connections with other parts from the RavePort models. So I took the eye and foot from a discarded model and gave them to Rav. He was thrilled.

Unlike most mechas, the big gun wielding cowboys of the manned robot world, RavPorts/RavePorts are tiny portable versions. They only carry stun blasters and are more for the use as information disks that can work independently of a feed or a plug-in.

My RavPort, Rav, was apparently under the control of one of Largo's henchmen. Largo is the head crimelord in the city, he runs the police and everything beneath and above. In any event, Rav still had information on his hard drive about Largo's corporation and how he ran his business. We had several adventures, mostly having to do with me bailing him out of a dumpster when my mom tried to clean my room, and eventually we found a clean judge and several clean cops, we formed a small uprising and brought forth the information, using it to usurp Largo.

These days things are a bit hectic, but I live on the top floor of a hotel and work with a high-end technology company. Rav stays by my bed, his batteries are wearing down. He's still good for a late night chat, but I'm still trying to convert him to solar energy and find new batteries for him.

He says that he tried to make me the hero, to put me into the opportune place of standing. I believe him, but what he doesn't know, is that he made himself the accidental hero of the whole operation by being so selfless.
My take on a mecha and an accidental hero :)

Nice! I really like how you inverted the Mecha by making it small. That really hadn't crossed my mind. Good job!
